Uniform
At Chancellor Park, in line with government recommendations, we have adopted a school uniform as we firmly believe that it encourages children to take a pride in their school, supports a feeling of belonging and sets an appropriate tone of conduct for education. It also helps eliminate designer clothes competitiveness or telling parents that ‘everyone else is wearing it’!
Our policy on school uniform is sensitive to the financial implications of having a uniform, as such we have ensured we adhere with the new statutory guidance which comes into effect in Summer 2023
Our branded uniform is available from 2 suppliers which gives parents the choice with varying costs/ quality. Our uniform can be purchased from School Wear Plus -Chelmsford.

PE Days
We allow our children to come to school on PE days wearing their PE kits. This not only reduces the wasted time changing for PE lessons, it also ensures PE kits remain clean for each lesson.
Hair
Children with hair longer than shoulder length, or a length which falls over the eyes must wear it tied up. This is to stop it being a distraction in lessons and also prevent the transmission of head-lice.
Hair accessories must be black/navy/white in colour and not be of any excessive size.
Haircuts/styles must be conservative. Shaved areas, lines or patterns and/or significant differences in the side and top length of hair are not permitted. Hair products may only be worn if they remain unnoticeable. Hair dyes or bleach is not permitted.
Headscarves
These may be worn for religious reasons but must be in school colours – navy blue /black only, and must be close fitting. During PE lessons they must be tucked inside the PE top to ensure loose cloth does not get entangled in any equipment and therefore pose a health and safety hazard to the wearer.
Jewellery
Permitted jewellery: One plain (silver/gold) single/pair of stud earrings -no diamantes. A wrist watch may be worn but this must not be a smartwatch.
Please note that due to health and safety requirements, all jewellery including watches and earrings, must be removed for PE lessons. ‘Taping’ earrings are not permitted. Our preference is for earrings not to be worn at all on these days; however, if they are worn children must be competent in removing these independently. The school cannot accept liability for the loss of jewellery.
Make Up & Nail Varnish
Make up and Nail Varnish must not be worn.
Labelling
We ask parents to ‘help us help you’ by labelling any items of school uniform that are likely to be taken off.
School staff reserve the right to confiscate any items brought into school which are not permitted within our uniform policy.
Please see our School Uniform Policy within the 'Policies' section for further details and information.
